The
major benefit of the Viking Fast Back tops is they are so
easy to manage, particularly after a short "break-in"
period of a few days and a little driving. The windows are
easily removed by quality YKK zippers and stored in a specially
made bag with separation panels to keep windows from touching
(storage system: patent pending). The bag is then placed in
a compartment between the ceiling panel and roof top which
is concealed and completely out of the way, saving valuable
space and keeping the windows away from gear. When it comes
time to reinstall the windows, it only takes few minuntes
to pull the windows out and zip them back into place.
The
Fast Back tops are also considerably lighter and more aerodynamic
than the factory tops. It does not hurt to lighten the load
a little, especially with current fuel costs.
Disclaimer:
The
Viking Fast Back Soft Top is not just a replacement top for
your Jeep Wrangler. There are several key differences in how
it works: The top is frameless so it does not have any of
the metal tubing-hoops of the factory tops. Rather it relies
on the Sport Bar (roll bar) to form it's shape. The top must
be stretched over the sport bar to retain its fit and shape,
where the factory tops are pushed up by the hoops to form
it's shape. There are advantages and disadvantages to either
approach. The factory hoops and top design is not easily convertible
to an open Safari style vehicle. The frameless design is more
suceptible to temperature fluctuations due to it needing to
be stretched over the vehicle. So installing it in temperatures
less than 70 degrees F, becomes increasingly difficult. In
high desert temperatures the top becomes somewhat loose but
wil shrink again once temperature is below about 95 degrees
F. Modifications to the sport bar makes it more difficult
to install. In some cases the tops may not fit with custom
roll cages or add on roll bars that are larger or smaller
than the factory sport bar.
Viking
Soft Tops will not provide any rollover protection. They are
designed to provide shade and a weather barrier only.
Warrantee:
Viking Soft Tops are warranteed against manufacturers defects
and a limited 1 year warrantee. Life of top will vary between
geographical areas and how it is used. Dust, extreme sun and
hot weather will deteriorate the materials faster than mild
climates.
